"Redefining the way we live"

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Caos system, the process, and installation.

Designed to simplify the way you build, configure, and live.

01. Product

What modules does Caos currently offer?+

Our first collection currently consists of independent living modules designed for new ways of living, hosting, and getting away. The collection includes: — Open Studio — Capsule — Private Studio (coming soon)

What is the difference between Open Studio and Capsule?+

Open Studio is designed as an autonomous and flexible living space for getaways, guest houses, or independent living. It has a sleeping area, a living area, a full bathroom and an equipped kitchen. Capsule is designed as a compact solution to expand living capacity quickly and efficiently, especially for hospitality, independent suites, or additional spaces. It has a bedroom and a full bathroom.

Can I customize the finishes?+

Yes. Certain elements are customizable. We offer a curated selection of materials and finishes to personalize interiors and exteriors while maintaining the consistency of the Caos system.

Can I modify the layout or dimensions?+

We do not make structural changes or modifications to the dimensions of the modules.

The current measurements and layouts have been carefully designed to optimize comfort, functionality, manufacturing, transport, and installation within an efficient modular system.

Can they be self-sufficient (off-grid system)?+

Yes, we can offer configurations prepared for off-grid or partially self-sufficient systems, although it is important to understand that these types of solutions involve a different user experience and certain limitations compared to a conventional grid connection.

A project study and an assessment of the required level of autonomy will be necessary based on the location, intended use, and specific needs.

02. Process

How does the process work?+

The Caos process is designed to simplify the configuration, manufacturing, and implementation of each module. 1. Explore our modules Discover the collection, layouts, and available finishes. 2. Tell us about your project We understand your needs, intended use, and general context. 3. Define finishes Explore our catalogue and choose the finishes that best suit your project. 4. Manufacturing and shipping The module is manufactured in a controlled environment, and we coordinate transport to your plot. This process refers to the internal development and management of the Caos system. Aspects external to the module, such as permits, zoning regulations, site viability, utility connections, or preliminary site work, must be evaluated independently based on each location and project.

What is the approximate lead time?+

Estimated manufacturing and delivery times are approximately 16 weeks from project confirmation and receipt of the initial payment. Deadlines may vary based on configuration, location, and production capacity; these will be defined and confirmed before manufacturing begins.

How are the modules delivered?+

Caos modules are manufactured entirely in a controlled environment and delivered ready for installation.

Transport is carried out by truck, and final placement on the plot is done by crane. Throughout the process, the modules are protected to ensure they remain in perfect condition.

How long does installation take?+

On-site installation can be completed in 1 to 7 days, depending on access, location, and prior site preparation.

03. Requirements

Do I need permits?+

Yes. Permits vary from country to country and, within Spain, by region and municipality. The technical project and permit applications are the client's responsibility and depend on the type of project and its location. We recommend checking with the local council or a local architect or engineer beforehand. We work with the project's architect or engineer to provide all the information about our modules needed for the application.

Can I install a module on rural land?+

The possibility of installing a module on rural land depends on the specific zoning regulations of each location.

In many cases, there are specific limitations or requirements, so we recommend consulting with the local town hall beforehand to evaluate the project's feasibility.

What site preparation is required?+

It depends on each plot and project. In general you need a suitable foundation, access for the truck and crane, and the utility connections required for the location and module. Site preparation, the foundation and the geotechnical study are the client's responsibility, contracted with local providers. We provide all the technical information about the module to coordinate them.

What type of foundation is used?+

The type of foundation depends on both the characteristics of the land and the local zoning regulations for each location.

Caos modules are designed to adapt to different foundation systems and do not require complex solutions. They can usually be installed on light foundations using helical piles, a non-invasive system that minimizes impact on the land and can be removed in the future if necessary.

What utilities does the plot need?+

Ideally, the plot should have water, electricity, and sewage connections to install the module.

If you do not have a sewage connection, it is possible to incorporate independent solutions such as a septic tank, depending on the project's needs.

It is also possible to explore partially self-sufficient or off-grid configurations. Each case must be evaluated individually, taking into account factors such as location, orientation, intended use, and the technical feasibility of the installation.

04. Pricing

What does the base price include?+

The included equipment depends on the selected model and configuration.

Generally, the base price may include:
— Steel-based structure
— Full bathroom
— Equipped kitchen (except for Capsule)
— Interior finishes
— Electrical and plumbing installations
— Carpentry and enclosures

Each module is configured individually, so the final quote will reflect exactly the finishes, extras, and elements selected for your project.

The price does not include site-related work, such as earthworks, foundations, utility connections, or site preparation. It also does not include decorative elements or furniture not specified within the selected configuration.

Where do you deliver, and is transport included?+

We deliver in Spain and the rest of continental Europe. We transport the module by truck to the plot and place it by crane on the finished foundation. The client is responsible for site preparation, the foundation, the geotechnical study, the technical project and the required permit applications, as well as connecting the module to the utility supply points. Transport costs are calculated for each project based on location, access and the chosen module. For projects on islands or in other special locations, please contact us first so we can assess feasibility.

What are the payment terms?
+

10% — Initial project deposit 40% — Final confirmation and start of manufacturing 40% — Completion of manufacturing and logistics preparation prior to shipping 10% — Final payment upon delivery *Estimated manufacturing and delivery times are approximately 16 weeks from final project confirmation and the start of manufacturing. *If the established payment terms are not met, the project may be delayed, and production or subsequent phases of the process will be rescheduled based on availability and current planning.

Does the final price include taxes?+

The prices shown do not include VAT or other applicable local taxes or fees.

The final tax rate will depend on the destination and local regulations.

05. Materials

What are the advantages of thermally treated wood?+

Thermally treated wood is a durable and sustainable option treated only with heat and steam, without chemicals.

This process improves its stability, reduces warping, and increases its resistance to moisture and temperature changes, offering excellent outdoor performance and greater thermal efficiency.

Will the facade change color over time?+

Yes. Thermally treated wood initially has a warm, caramel tone that will naturally evolve and age into an elegant silver-gray patina over time with outdoor exposure.

To minimize this color change and increase UV protection, periodic maintenance with protective oils can be performed.

For facades treated with pigmented oils or colored finishes, regular maintenance is recommended to preserve the finish and ensure it ages aesthetically over time.

Why do we build with wood?+

Caos's construction philosophy is based on industrialized timber systems.

Wood offers a combination of sustainability, energy efficiency, and durability, while also allowing for faster, more precise manufacturing processes in a controlled environment.

Its natural thermal performance, structural strength, and lower environmental impact make it a solution ready for a new way of building.
